She unexpectedly discovers magical powers after freeing a set of magical cards. In order to avoid chaos, she must recover the cards. In 1998, Madhouse adapted the manga into a 70-episode anime series. North American studio Nelvana later obtained the rights and premiered the TV series under the title Cardcaptors on Kids' WB in 2000. About the Creation: The first North American image of Cardcaptors is a part of history. Steven Ahola was part of a studio that competed for the North American rights, and designed a print for the proposal which summarized the story premise of a girl and her bear chasing magical cards.
