Chiaki Honda is the deceased wife of Shigeharu Honda and the biological mother of Goro Shigeno who passed away from sickness when Goro was three years old prior to the series. Since then, Shigeharu manages to pull himself together and raise Goro as a single father until he met Momoko Hoshino (Goro's kindergarten teacher) who bears a striking resemblance to Chiaki.
