Bridget was born in a village in England where the birth of twins of the same gender was considered bad luck, and one twin was traditionally sacrificed or exiled in that case. Her parents were unwilling to lose one of their children, and instead they decided to raise her as a girl so that they could hide her from the society she was bound to live with. Bridget loved her parents and did her best effort to live a life in disguise to keep them from worrying, but even then she could see her parents
